Loving All the Choices

One of my favorite things about the communication program that we are using on the IPAD is how it can layer. Once choice leads to another and another to meet whatever needs the child has.
Today Junior was upset and I showed him his "upset" board. He quickly told me he hurt and it was his tummy. As soon as I told him I was very sorry that he had a tummy ache he smiled and was fine. I had to laugh, I think some of it was a ploy to get me to give him his IPAD. I had found a very cool medical app and was inputting all his med lists, doctors, etc(I love this app but will share about it in another post).
After telling me his tummy hurt he told me he wanted a story and then was careful to pick one that required the use of the IPAD, sneaky but smart guy.

From the home page we chose relaxation activities(the "I want" with the recliner under it)
Then Junior chose books
That choice took him to this page(and yes just like his movie pages I need to add real pictures for most of these symbols). Some of these stories have more then one in the series so if he chooses one of those he will get another board to pick the specific story.
He looked away from each page until he got to the one he wanted. How To Train Your Dragon
Having fun listening to his story

Having some fun during school time with the ipad
He was matching words to pictures

He loved this one.
He had to match the animal to the sound
And harvesting some crops on his farm

Before getting out of his stander Junior decided he needed a story. For those using IPADS with their kids have you come across some great read along books. Ones that aren't too "babyish". He loves the Toy Story set, Shrek, and How to Train Your Dragon but I would like to have a few more for him so he has something to distract him at appts.

  1. Thanks for allowing us to know about Junior's new 'voice'. It is truly incredible, and I know that Junior will get lots of fun and enjoyment out of it, plus it will enable him to talk to others - what a wonderful blessing to you all.
